Editor-in-Chief: Oversees the production of two/three issues per academic year. Manages/oversees event planning, social media, emails, communications etc. Involved with all editorial roles and takes overall responsibility for the publication and running of the journal.
Deputy Editor: Assists the Editor-in-Chief in the day-to-day running of the journal. Carries out language/general editing, social media management, event planning, promoting the journal and commissioning/curating submissions. (Tasks may be fulfilled by Editor-in-Chief/other positions as necessary)
Language & Assistant Editors: Carry out language/general editing, proofreading, and copyediting.
Art Editor: Creates all visual art materials for the journal, including all promotional pictures, call pictures, cover art for the magazine and any other graphic design job that may be necessary. Curates visual art submissions to the journal.
Layout & Design Editor: Designs each issue using Adobe InDesign. (Role may be fulfilled by Editor-in-Chief/Deputy/Assistant editors as necessary)
Requirements for all candidates:
You must be an undergraduate or postgraduate student of Trinity College Dublin in the 2024/25 academic year.
You must have an interest in languages, literature and translation.
You must be committed to reading and editing submissions, staying in contact with fellow editorial team members, and attending JoLT and Trinity Publications-related events.
You must be responsible and reliable, but most importantly, you must be a team-player who is fully dedicated to working with the team to do the job you are hired to do, from the beginning to the end of the year. Do not submit an application if you do not think you can dedicate the necessary time and effort required for the role you are applying to.
Requirements for the position of Editor-in-Chief:
Excellent command of written English.
Interest in languages and literary translation, and knowledge of at least one language other than English.
Responsible, proactive, and capable of motivating others. Creative and ambitious.
Previous experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is beneficial, but not essential.
Previous experience in publications within Trinity or elsewhere is beneficial, but not essential.
Proficiency in Irish is beneficial, but not essential.
Requirements for Deputy Editor & Language Editors:
You must have proven proficiency in at least one language other than English.
